Her Story
The brief: Make a video that celebrates the history of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, to be played at an event the day before the 2023 final featuring Spain versus England.
The (thundering, impossible to ignore) insight:
When you look at the history of the Women’s World Cup from 1990 to the present, you don’t just see a game that’s transformed into a powerhouse.
You don’t just see the rise of multiple stars and huge audiences.
You see a world that has changed. A world that sees women taking ownership of their sport, their voices and their place in culture.
Players becoming heroes. Role models. Icons.
You see a game that didn’t just reflect social change. It helped drive it.
Working with a spoken-word poet, we dived into the archive of footage and made it mean something.
At the request of the football federations, the video was played in the dressing rooms just before the final. Shivers.
